It is the opinion of Freeman
Mechanical that a “piggyback” heatpump, paired with a high
efficiency gas furnace, is the most cost effective choice for
heating your home.

How does a heat pump work?
It’s simple…think of how your air conditioner works. It removes
heat from inside of your home and moves it outside. A heat pump
works the same way. In the summer, it acts as an air
conditioner, removing heat from your home. In the winter
months, a heat pump works in reverse, picking up heat from the
outside air and moving it into your home.

The new heat pumps are surprisingly efficient to very low
temperatures andhave a much warmer discharge air than older
models. Not to mention, operating for pennies on the dollar
compared to other heating methods.
When temperatures reach a point that the heat pump is no longer
efficient, the thermostat automatically switches from the heat
pump to your gas furnace, allowing your home to remain
comfortable no matter what the temperature, with the least
amount of operating cost!
